The Abacus: the first Computer

Apple Store

The abacus was used as a mathematical model for early electronic computers and so technically it was "the first handheld".

Its Mandarin name is "Suen Pan" also known as "calculating plate". It was invented around 1600 AD in China, however the inventor remains unknown. The Japanese also had a similar version of the abacus that they called "soroban": this was a more elegant version of the Chinese abacus.

During the Medieval period, the West picked up on the abacus. The Russian's abacus is in a horizontal direction while the Chinese and the Japanese's abacus is in a vertical direction: this was due to the fact that the Chinese and Japanese wrote downwards, while the West wrote across.

Online legal form one-stop shops are the solution to many people’s legal problems. Gone are the days when a person’s word or a firm handshake was as binding as any contract.  With all the red tape and bureaucracy nowadays people find that they have to protect themselves by getting everything “in paper” when doing transactions of any kind, be it personal or business transactions.

This is a big problem for most people since many are not very familiar with legalese and have to use lawyers to have forms and contracts drafted for them. Lawyers are very expensive and have to be paid not only for their time but usually also for each legal form they churn out for their clients. People find themselves having to pay a huge amount of money for small issues that don’t seem to warrant such expense. They also often find themselves wishing, after getting a legal form drawn up for them, that they had enough knowledge to draw up the form or contract themselves.

We have legal forms dealing with bankruptcy, business agreements, divorce/separation, insurance, application forms, promissory notes, trusts, mortgage and loans, and so much more.
